Drum shells are made in many different ways. Each of them significantly affects their sound qualities. Specifically for wood we have the following basic ways of construction:
Plywood: Offers long sustain with high intensity and a varied fundamental pitch. Stave (Barrel board): Smaller sustain and higher frequency pitch. Steam-bent: Quite a "lively" sound with a long sustain and a warm fundamental pitch. Solid: Long sustain and fundamental pitch of higher frequencies. Segment: Smaller sustain and clearer pitch of higher frequencies.

It would be good, however, to know some basics about the wood / materials we use in our custom orders and their sound properties.
